Some characters make positive identification: Parnaozi, Anna, Aneta, George, Alexandre, Gela, Nato, Niko, Avelume and Ekaekaterinekato and some - negative: Kusa, Perte. The question of conformity of geographical or psychological space of consciousness is also important. In Otar Chiladze’s novels are two kinds of identity - psychosocial and national. The most important problem of cultural discussions of 20th century is reflected in Otar Chiladze’s novels: “A man was going down the road”, “Everyone who finds me”, “The iron theatre”, “The cock of March”, “Avelume”. “Nowadays the research of identity has as strategic purpose as it was the study of sexuality at the time of Froyde” - says the American psychologist Erikh Erikson, one of the founders of egho-psychology. Among them one of the most important thing is personal psychosocial identification. After 60-70 years of 20th century it became necessary to save national conseiousness and cultural worth before Georgian Literature.

Wings Over Marseille by Lucas Webber5/22/2023 Things look bleak, but I think I can turn things around for all of us. Worse, they’re dogfighting a Luftwaffe ten times deadlier than the one I ever knew back in 1944. The catch is, no one is quite sure where they are, and apparently, they live in woods teeming with the most nightmarish abominations you could ever dream of.īut before I can get to that, I’ve got to teach these girls how to survive in the skies because I’m going to need some of them to vouch for me.Īll the girls here are rookies. Like actual, magic-brewing, curse-slinging witches. One even thinks I might find some answers if I can track down some witches in the region. I was stuck by how many aerial fighting terms were used and the amount of historical accuracy shown to the planes and ships. I’ve managed to befriend a few of the pilots since arriving. 5/5: quick fluffy fun with surprisingly interesting worldbuilding. I have no idea how that happened or what the hell is going on, other than the airfield I found belongs to the 138th, an all-female fighter squadron operating near Marseille, France.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk5/22/2023 Love it or hate it, his nihilistic, dry perspective on life, in all of its existential mundanity, drips from nearly every line of prose. Chuck Palahniuk has one of the strongest narrative voices of any author I have come across. If I can get anything across to you in the review, it’d be that. Through his affiliation with Durden, our narrator finds himself embroiled in a world of underground boxing rings and further mayhem. This all changes when he comes across Tyler Durden, a soap salesman and part-time movie theatre projectionist with a penchant for chaos. Our insomniac of a narrator struggles to find meaning or purpose in a life of consumerism, constant travel, and forgettable interactions. The novel generally follows the same premise and beats as the movie. Nevertheless, I’ve found a surprising number of people familiar with the 1999 film directed by David Fincher remain woefully unfamiliar the 1996 novel written by Chuck Palahniuk. My ThoughtsĮven though the first and second rule of Fight Club is to not talk about Fight Club, you’ve probably still heard of it. There, two men fight “as long as they have to.” This is a gloriously original work that exposes the darkness at the core of our modern world. Fight Club’s estranged narrator leaves his lackluster job when he comes under the thrall of Tyler Durden, an enigmatic young man who holds secret after-hours boxing matches in the basement of bars. Chuck Palahniuk showed himself to be his generation’s most visionary satirist in this, his first book.

Remnants of separation book5/22/2023 Written as a crossover between history and anthropology, Remnants of a Separation is the product of years of passionate research. A refugee certificate created in Calcutta evokes in a daughter the feelings of displacement her father had experienced upon leaving Mymensingh zila, now in Bangladesh. A notebook of poems, brought from Lahore to Kalyan, shows one woman's determination to pursue the written word despite the turmoil around her. A string of pearls gifted by a maharaja, carried from Dalhousie to Lahore, reveals the grandeur of a life that once was. They now speak of their owner's pasts as they emerge as testaments to the struggle, sacrifice, pain and belonging at an unparalleled moment in history. These belongings absorbed the memory of a time and place, remaining latent and undisturbed for generations. Remnants of a Separation is a unique attempt to revisit the Partition through objects that refugees carried with them across the border.

The Renegade Queen by Eva Flynn5/22/2023 Pulling from a plethora of sources, which she lists at the end of her debut, Flynn skillfully weaves history into engaging dialogue while relaying a powerful story of one woman's fortitude during a time when women had less value than cows. The tide take a drastic turn, though, when Victoria gets wind of a scandalous affair and decides to make it public.Įva Flynn pens a compelling read on the rebellious life of Victoria Woodhull, a woman who was written "out of history altogether." The first book in her Rebellious Times series, Flynn's first person narrative covers Victoria's life from her meager beginnings up to the time that she leaves for England. Yet her determination earns her a nomination for President of the United States in 1872. Victoria's viewpoints are undoubtedly radical, and she often gets into arguments with Susan B. The Colonel plays key roles in her attainment of wealth and support in the suffrage movement. It's not until she meets the love of her life, Colonel James Blood, that Victoria makes a real push for women's rights. Tired of ill treatment, Victoria begins to voice her opinions about free love and divorce whenever she has an opportunity. Going from a dysfunctional household into a miserable first marriage, Victoria Claflin knows first hand what it is like to be abused. "Your future is bright, you will be well loved, and rich, and blessed beyond imagination.

Venom vol 1 rex5/22/2023 It’s just a shame that it’s part of the previously-mentioned omnibus and not part of the Venom: Lethal Protector trade. THE ORIGINAL ANTI-HERO RUNĪmazing Spider-Man #374-375 is this great two-parter that temporarily wraps up the Spider-Man/Venom rivalry and sets the stage for Venom to spinoff with his own solo run. It’s really expensive, but it’s an option. Venom Omnibus that will have pretty much every Venom appearance pre- Lethal Protector. They’re releasing a hardcover called Spider-Man vs. Spider-Man: Birth of Venom has all of his origin appearances and Carnage Classic has that initial story arc, but you aren’t going to get that cool fight on the island or the other early Venom appearances. In terms of trades, there are two ways to go about it. This culminates in the creation of Carnage, which not only means Spider-Man has to undo taking Venom off the table, but the two have to team up against the big, new villain. For these first couple of years, Venom gets increasingly interesting, especially in the ways Spider-Man has to deal with him.
